Lango Conference 2012 Marked A New Era In The History Of Lango

Immediately after Christmas 2012 a number of Langi from around the globe who are focused on development came together at Uganda Technical Collage Lira to discuss Lango Development Agenda.
The event started on the 27th December with youth conference, which discussed Lango culture and development for the youth and the future of Lango as a whole.In the opening remark the Chairperson of the organizing committee Dr Engineer Michael Odongo told the youth who where collected from the deferent clans in the eight district of Otuke, Alebtong, Lira, Dokolo, Amolatar, Apac, Kole and Oyam, that they better be prepared for the future with firm knowledge on development Read More.
Lango Conference London 2007- the first global Lango gathering overseas
Lango Diaspora Conference August 24-26th 2007 was conceived by Langi in the Diaspora after the realisation that Lango sub-region in northern Uganda has lagged behind in development, especially in the last 20 years, compared to the rest of Uganda. Lango is characterised as the 6th least developed region in Uganda. The Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency has been a major contributing factor to the underdevelopment of Northern Uganda and of Lango region in particular.The conference came at a time when the Government of Uganda and the Lords Resistance Army LRA, were holding peace talks in Juba-Southern Sudan.
